The fruit was carefully selected from vineyards in McLaren Vale (80% Shiraz, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon & 5% Merlot). The fruit was transported to our winery in the Hunter Valley with fermentation in 5 tonne stainless steel fermenters, keeping each individual parcel separate before being pressed off to tank. The wine was matured in French oak barriques (225L) for 9 months before being carefully blended to create a wine with primary fruit power, texture and style.
2014 Vintage began with heavy winter rainfalls that gave way to dry and windy spring conditions. In summer we saw high temperatures and a deluge of rainfall which was then followed by a period of mild and dry conditions that was ideal for the ripening of the fruit. As a result, ripening was slightly later than average and the quality was consistently high.
