The grapes for this wine were sourced primarily from the small block of Gewurztraminer on our Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard. They were handpicked in late January, whole bunch pressed and cold settled for 2 days. Clean juice was racked and fermented cool (14-16°C) for 15 days to retain aromatic characters. The wine was then lightly fined with skim milk, filtered and bottled early to retain freshness.
The 2020 vintage began in the Hunter Valley with a very dry winter and almost no rainfall at all. Budburst began in mid August and it wasn't until mid September that we received some decent rainfall. Over the Summer period, the dry conditions continued and it resulted the earliest harvest in history. The dry conditions meant that crop levels were down across the Hunter Valley but the grapes we harvested were in great condition and had lots of concentration of flavour.
Pale yellow with green hues.
Distinctive aromas of lychees, stone fruits and rose petals
An intense, fruit driven palate of honeysuckle, lychees and a hint of spice. A balanced palate that finishes with a long, crisp acidity.
