The 2017 Vintage was the hottest year on record and will be regarded as one of our greatest years for red wines for the level of fruit intensity, with our Lake Shiraz being the pinnacle. Set next to the spring fed dam near the back gate of the property this shiraz block is referred to simply as ‘The Lake’. Floral, fresh fruit aromas lift from this wine with a tightly wound red and blue fruit core on the palate supported with subtle use of French oak for structure and typical Hunter Shiraz notes of dark spice for complexity.
The 2017 vintage will be regarded as a great Hunter Valley vintage, with ideal warm growing conditions leading up to vintage. After some spring and early summer rains, the vines were healthy and had plenty of foliage. Very dry and hot sum-mer conditions with temperatures over 40 degrees meant the tannin and flavour profile of the fruit was allowed to fully ma-ture. The 2017 white and red wines will be full of flavour and highly sought after.
Enjoy now and over the next 20 years.
